Who do you work with?
Colleen works mostly with districts as well as individual schools and organizations dedicated to learning and facilitating children’s learning.
Where do you work?
Currently Colleen works both nationally and internationally. Some current and recent partners include communities located in: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, California, Arkansas, Iowa, Texas, Canada and France.
What grade levels, personnel and subject areas do you specialize in?
Colleen works with grades K-12 students, teachers, paraprofessionals, interventionists, service providers and administrators. She focuses on systems, mindsets, students with IEPs, foundational skills, mistake-welcoming culture building, equity, team teaching and transference across all discipline areas. For discipline specific content and curriculum development her primary expertise and published work is in literacy and history.
Do you support educators on developing their own writing for publication or just strengthening their skills?
Yes. Colleen can and has worked directly with schools on in-house writing groups as part of her professional development work. This can involve curriculum writing, family communication, or writing for professional publication.
Colleen also has a longstanding writing group she runs out of her home which boasts writers who have published books, blogs and articles as well as winning writing accolades. Is there a particular program or curriculum you support exclusively?
No. Colleen believes that good, inclusive, instructional practices can and should be applied to any curriculum.
Do you offer parent and caregiver workshops?
Yes! As a parent, some of Colleen’s favorite work is offering fun, practical and accessible workshops for families.
What type of organizations do you work with and how do you work with them?
Colleen has worked with both grassroots organizations and corporations, large and small. The work with those organizations is individualized - meaning it is very much a collaboration between the organization’s needs and Colleen’s skills. She has helped audit organizational outcomes for focused cohorts, reviewed and critiqued written materials, designed program frameworks, and offered bespoke professional development that blends the organization’s mission with learning and equity goals to name a few highlights. For the past few years, in partnership with Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul, she has offered equity professional development for publishers.
